Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens

An Irish Heritage Trust Property

Welcome to Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens, a special place that offers a new experience for every visitor. Fota House is an Irish Heritage Trust property and is Ireland’s finest example of Regency period architecture with superb neoclassical interiors. Nestling in the heart of Fota island, we are situated in East Cork, just off the N25 and only 20 mins from Cork city and 10 minutes from Midleton town. Discover the grand decor of the principle rooms and charming nursery, or the service wing with the beautifully preserved kitchens, where you can experience what life was like for the cooks, butlers, footmen and maids who supported the lavish lifestyle of the gentry. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of Fota’s gardens and stroll in the historic ‘pleasure grounds’ or the award winning Victorian Frameyard garden.

Fota House hosts a wide range of events and there is always something to do here including seasonal offerings for families, a programme of cultural events, gardening events and much more. We have a great choice of fun activities for our younger visitors; our children’s house tour ‘Where is Mrs Kevin’s Cat?’, enjoy the glorious gardens with our ‘Little Explorers Tree Trail’ and ‘Junior Plant Hunter Trail’, or get stuck in in the Victorian Frameyard Garden in ‘Digging For History’ or discover all about biodiversity on the ‘Queen Maeve and the Honey Bees’ tour! We are open 7 days a week from March to September from 10am – 5pm and our café on site serves yummy, homemade fare every day.

Tours of the house and gardens operate daily – 11am/12.30pm/2pm/3.30pm
