“A Really Recommended Tour!” I must say it was one of the better tours I've been to, loads thanks to our tour-guide John, who was very knowledgeble and passionate about whiskey and really friendly who welcomed us in highly manner and made sure we had a great experience on "Behind The Scenes Tour"
“Great Tour and Tasting” We had a great time here. Even got my wife enjoying the tasting and bottling her own special bottle. The staff is great and I would definitely recommend the tasting addition to the tour. Everyone gets some samples but the tasting ads a little something special. Some really cool items you can only buy there. Highly recommend for any whiskey fan or anyone old enough to enjoy a proper libation.
This year, the Jameson Experience at the Old Midleton Distillery, welcomed more than 125,000 visitors which represents a 5% increase on last year’s figures. Visitors make the pilgrimage to Midleton from all over the world, however, the top five nationalities continue to be the USA, France, Germany, Britain and Ireland.
The distillery tour and whiskey tasting experience remain as key features of a visit to Midleton, however the latest additions to the site; a new live maturation warehouse and cooperage display, and upgraded tour option “Behind The Scenes Tour” has dramatically enhanced the guests’ experience and the popularity of the distillery.
The distillery shop stocks all the wonderful whiskeys which are crafted at the distillery including Jameson, Paddy, Powers, Redbreast, Midleton and the Spot range. Why not fill your own bottle of Jameson Select Reserve at cask strength, or personalise the label on a bottle of Jameson Distillery Reserve? A great selection of merchandise is also available including clothing, glassware and gifts.
Due to increased interest, the Jameson Experience Midleton is reintroducing bus service from April until mid-October. Our founder John Jameson was a famed host, and after more than two centuries little has changed. Every year we try to improve on the last, and this year’s visitors will be picked up at the aptly named St. Patrick’s Quay, in our Jameson branded luxury coach, and dropped off in the heart of Midleton.
We want to make sure that our guests’ visit is as smooth as our whiskey so the bus will be running twice a day (10 am & 2 pm), every day, with tour times synchronised accordingly. Preparing for the Irish weather is always tricky but we would recommend comfortable shoes as the tours take around 2 hours to complete, alternating between historic distillery buildings and the outdoors.
Several experiences are available for visitors, with the Jameson Experience providing an ample introduction to the world of whiskey. Behind the Scenes tours and Single Pot Still Whiskey tastings are available for those whose interest in whiskey runs deeper. The Jameson Experience package costs €20, with prices and full details for the other tours available at www.jamesonwhiskey.com.
